Hmm,

Ive disabled cdrom and floppy but unfortunately this has not solved the
problem.

So somethings wrong with the network. Hmm

Can't think of why this would happen.

A long shot, but does this also happen when you logon to the
physical console of the server?
This has happened to me on a server with a faulty CDROM drive. The
system was so busy checking the CDROM that it took several minutes
to get to the logon screen, let alone login to it. Disabling the
drive in the BIOS solved the problem.

If a console logon is normal, then you can be sure it's a network
issue.

Fernando.

sorry for the late reply. Unfortunately im still fighting with
this problem.

Haven't reply uncovered anything apart from that everything
seems to be setup right.

By any chance has you server been upgraded from 2K?

There is very little out there about this problem. In fact you
are the only other person i have found with this problem.

Hi Graham,
Any fix to this problem? I am having the same issue and it's
most definately
not got to do with DNS.

Please let me know if you've found a fix for this.

Cheers,
Fernando

Hi,

I have a issue with a Windows Server 2003 box which we
connect to via Terminal Services for Remote Admin.

Basically it sits there waiting for the ctrl+alt+delete
screen to appear.

It can take up to 5 mins for this to display. This happens
both remotely
over the net and on the local network where it sits on a
gigabit backbone.
So its not a slow connection problem.

Anyone cast any light on this issue? Ive never seen this
before.

Graham

Bandwidth, no. Network problem, YES. It might not be your
server at all, but if you've recently changed its
configuration, be sure to examine DNS and Routing. Also,
examine the rest of your network for routing / DNS issues. It
smells like you don't have a clean route to the box.

Is the server dual multi homed? Is it properly listed in DNS?
Lots of potential causes.
