Hi,
Check this article for printers connected to USB ports:
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=302361
Also, does the office PC have the matching printer driver for the printer on the home PC ?
Are there any event viewer logs on the office PC which says why printer redirection failed ?

Thanks,
Priya.

I am connecting a home PC (running Windows XP Professional SP2) to
an office desktop (also running XP Pro SP2). I initiate a VPN connection
using Microsoft built-in VPN software, then initiate Remote Desktop from the
home PC to connect to a desktop at the office.
I have check the box to allow local printers to be used in the Remote
Desktop Connection profile before attempting to connect. When I connect to
the remote computer at the office and go to Printers and Faxes, only my local
printer (connected via parallel) on the office is listed.
How do I add a local (home PC) printer to make that a print destination?
Must it be locally connected to the PC (via USB or parallel), or can it be
another printer shared by another computer? Right now, the only printer
available to the home PC (#1) is a USB local printer shared by another XP Pro
computer (#2). I could connect it directly to my first home PC (#1) if
necessary.
