I remember that i do have the same problem when i uninstall the citrix
metaframe xp. i solved with reinstall all the printer drivers from windows
driver list (not from manufacturer cd) with replace driver option.

I've checked the RDP properties in terminal server configuration, then
applied a GPO to see if that made any difference, it didn't. I have
also checked the config and registry with another Terminal Server and
can't find any difference. The strangest thing is that if the driver
isn't present it errors in the event log when a user logs on so is
trying to create the auto redirection but once driver is installed the
error goes but no printer. I am going to look at it again today but I
fear it might have to be a complete re-setup of the server.

Did you check the RDP properties on that server, maybe are overide the client
settings on mapping local printers.

Hi Jeff
Thanks for your reply but I have already looked at this, the problem is
that it won't redirect LPT, USB or any other type of printers. I have
setup a Laserjet 4 driver on LPT1 which when I connect to other 2003
Terminal Servers is present when I look in printers and faxes, on the
server it is not. I can see in printer drivers that it has added the
driver for a LJ 4 but hasn't created the TS00* port or printer. It
doesn't leave any log as to when the process stops as it obviously
picks them up to install the drivers. I have tried from different
clients and all work to TS 2003 servers at other sites, its down to
this one server.

Harry

Hi
I have a real strange problem with a Windows 2003 server running as a
dedicated terminal server. Everything works fine on it bar auto
redirection of printers, all settings are checked to allow and the
config is exactly the same as another couple of servers at different
sites which work OK. When logging on the server will put the usual
driver error if not found in the event log, when added the error then
disappears but no printers are added in Printers and Faxes, it doesn't
created the TS00* ports either. The event logs are completely clean of
any errors and I have tried creating LPT1 LJ4 printers which auto
install on other servers but to no avail. This problem has only just
come to light as nobody has needed to print to their local printers as
all the company printers are installed on the terminal server as local
printers, the issue is now one user is using TS remotely from the
office not just locally as they have moved house. I have trawled
through all the logs and I can definately say that all the options are
set to redirect printers on both the server and client, it just doesn't
work and gives no errors. I have tried running cleanspl and then
re-adding the needed drivers but this makes no difference. Also
redirection makes no difference if connecting locally to the server or
through the firewall remotely. I will soon have to setup the server
again as I need to sort this out sooner rather than later.
Any ideas.
Regards
Harry
