WTSSendMessage timeout Vs. minimized session window

Windows 2K w/Terminal Services.
In order to display a temporary message in a remote session, my app invokes
WTSSendMessage in blocking mode passing a timeout.
In standard condition, if the remote TS user don't close the messagebox, the
function WTSSendMessage returns after timeout elapsed.
But if the remote session is running in minimized window, *the function never
returns* even after the timeout.
I couldn't find any remarks about this behavior in MS doc.
I couldn't even find a way to know if a remote session is running minimized.
How can I overcome these problems?
Any help will be appreciated.
Bye
Raf
