There is a bug in the new client--please see my other reply to you in this thread.

The *primary* purpose of the new client is to allow you to take advantage of new features when connecting to Vista and Longhorn server. It is an *optional* update.

If your users are not connecting to Vista/Longhorn or you are not using one of the few new features that are applicable to 2003/XP, then it is probably best to stick with the old version. You can also run the old version alongside the new version without problems.
