Re: Local USB connected printers not visible during terminal server session

Hi,

- What is the "TS created printer" seen on the TS session ? Is the local client printer getting redirected on the session ?
- If it is not getting redirected, on which printer are you trying to print the test page ? (and thereby getting errors 6161 and 3)
- Does the new TS server have a matching printer driver for the HP Deskjet 5550 printer ?
- As the printer is connected to the USB port, you might have to check this article also:

I have been using a Dell Dimension desktop as a terminal server for the
last couple of years. I have recently purchased a Dell PE2800 to
replace the Dimension with. Both boxes have been configured with
Server 2000 operating system. Everything on the Dimension works
perfectly, including printing. When I log onto the old TS box, I can
see my locally attached HP Deskjet 5550 printer (USB port) and the TS
created printer. However, when I log onto the new TS box, I can only
see the TS created printer...I do not see my locally attached printer.
Whenever I try printing to it via printing a test page or something
from notepad, I received an error. This error (as recorded in the
event log) as an event id of 6161 and documents a Win32 error where the
print processor has returned an error code of 3. Upon further
investigation, this error code 3 means that the sytem cannot find the
path specified. I think that this is related to my locally attached
printer not showing up. I thought it may be a problem with the print
spooler or the USB ports on the server, but I can take my printer and
attach it locally to my server and it will print perfectly. Can you
help me??
