I've searched around a bit and found a Mircosoft article at:

http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=898060 entitled "Installing security
update MS05-019 or Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 may cause network
connectivity between clients and servers to fail".

This sounds like it could be the issue, so I tried installing it but
without success. I still can't connect.
