Re: Bulk Local Printing

With 60 concurrent users on a 2mb line you are allready pushing the
boundaries without any document being printed. In this case you would
definitly need a third party printing solution as any printjob to a local
device
will comsume all bandwidth that is left, let alone bulk printing.
TS Printing products with good compression are:
http://www.thinprint.com
http://www.uniprint.net
http://www.tricerat.com
http://www.provisionnetworks.com

I would suggest that you test some of these solutions to see if they
match your expectation as like i said, with 60 users you are allready
taking up most bandwidth, and even these solutions may not be satisactory.

Hi,
I'm researching the hosting of a customer's server infrastructure at a
data
center with all users accessing their data via Terminal Services (TS)
connections.

I have been given the figure of 100 user connections to scope for so have
identified that 4 terminal servers will do the job.

The Data Center comms will be huge and the largest single site (up to 60
concurrent users) has 2Mbit ADSL at present (which cannot be upgraded).
There will be a number of smaller sites making up a total of the remaining
40
users.

My question is regarding how TS deals with local printing. I know that it
is possible to print to local printer devices as I have done this before.
I
am more concerned with the performance of large print jobs through the TS
connection. Does anyone have any experience they can share on large
amounts
of local printing via TS including any tips or any info on the type of
compression to be expected?

Many thanks,
Dave
