Re: Network printer redirection

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

Ah then this is your problem:

Printers That Use Ports That Do Not Begin With COM, LPT, or USB Are Not
Redirected in a Remote Desktop or Terminal Services Session

Jeff,

Yes, all remote computers have the proper driver for their network
printers
loaded. Likewise, the driver is loaded on the TS and the redirection works
fine for some remote users. The users don't have any local printers per
se.
As a test, I changed the port of the printer that wouldn't redirect to
LPT1:
from the IP address and the server created it for the user just fine!

I have a remote office with 10 computers and 2 networked IP printers.
The
users there can all print to these printers with no problem. When they
connect to my Terminal Server, some users have their network printer
available and some don't. TS will simply not recognize the network
printer
on some machines. No error messages in the Event log. The local print
devices
are seen and redirected or an error message is put in the Event log
regarding
the driver being missing or what have you.

The users have told me that the last IT guy had to edit the registry to
get
their networked IP printers to work. I can't see a difference in setup
between the ones that work and the ones that don't. Any ideas on this?

Steve
