Hi
Ok i have done what you have asked me to do, i believe i have also provided
the information you were looking for earlier. I guess i wasn't clear about
it. Sorry for that. Anyway to make things clear lets say:
1. Lets call comp1 to the specific computer from where a specif user needed
to be logged into the windows and also the TS.
2. The test computer is comp2.
3. The user that needs to be loged in is USER A
4. Test user USER B.
Scenerio 1.
Computer User Result
Windows log-in Comp1 User A
Terminal log-in Comp1 User A Can see
printer from terminal.
Scenerio 2.
Computer User Result
Windows log-in Comp1 User A
Terminal log-in Comp1 User B Cannot see
printer from terminal.
Scenerio 3.
Computer User Result
Windows log-in Comp1 User B
Terminal log-in Comp1 User A Cannot see
printer from terminal.
Scenerio 4.
Computer User Result
Windows log-in Comp1 User B
Terminal log-in Comp1 User B Cannot see
printer from terminal.
Scenerio 5.
Computer User Result
Windows log-in Comp2 User B
Terminal log-in Comp2 User B Cannot see
printer from terminal.
Scenerio 6.
Computer User Result
Windows log-in Comp2 User A
Terminal log-in Comp2 User B Cannot see
printer from terminal.
Scenerio 7.
Computer User Result
Windows log-in Comp2 User B
Terminal log-in Comp2 User A Cannot see
printer from terminal.
Scenerio 8.
Computer User Result
Windows log-in Comp2 User B
Terminal log-in Comp2 User B Cannot see
printer from terminal.
So, from the test what i see is that it is user name to windows login that
user B and anyone from that computer with user name to TS is logged in than
we see printer.
Therefore it is attached to the specific user name to windows and the
specific machine.
Hope this helps

Hi,.
Can you check 2 more things:
1. Login as some other user to the particular local computer you
mentioned below in Toronto and TS to the server - are the printers
redirected ?
2. Login as the particular user name you mentioned below, from some
other local computer in Toronto and TS to the server - are the printers
redirected ?
This will help narrow down on whether it is a user account issue or computer
name issue.

Hi Thany you for your response on that
I tried doing as per your advice, i did check that before and sorry i
forgot
to mention. But strangely enough i do see that within the security tab the
user name for terminal server for the person who needs to be logged in to
the
local computer is there. A group is alos added "terminal power users"
which
is belive has all the terminal user.
Just to make this more clear to you in my previous email i mentioned the
person who needs to be logged in, needs to be logged in to teh local
computer
with his domain user name and password for Toronto Office. And then anyone
from that coupter can log in to terminal server. Only then we will be able
to
see the printer and session will indicate
printername/computername/session#
which belogs to this particular computer.
Therefore i have a funny feeling that the printer is attached to the
computer name.
Please help

Hi,
Do the other users who login from the Toronto machines have "Print" and
"Manage Documents" permission on this printer ?
You can verify the permissions in this location:
On the TS session, open Control Panel -> Printers -> <the redirected
TCP/IP
printer> -> Right Click -> Properties -> Security
The user account would need "Print" and "Manage Documents" permission (at
a
minimum) to print on the redirected printer.
Also, you might want to upgrade to RDP 5.2 if not already upgraded:

Hi
I am having this issue for years now. We have 2 offices one in Montreal
and
one in Toronto. We have terminal server in Montreal which has Acpac in
it
and
from toronto we log in to Terminal server wiht RDP sessions and use
Acpac
from it. We also print out work from there to our local printer in
Toronto.
The printers are TCP/IP printers.
Issue: We can only print from the terminal server if one particular
username
is logged on to the domain in Toronto using a particular computer. And
then
from the same computer someone has to be logged on to the terminal
server.
It
seems like it is attached to the user name and computer name for the
domain
in TO.
This is not the same for Montreal, anyone logs in to the terminal
server
can
see the printer. But we can't see our local printers unless that
particular
person's username is logged in to the Toronto Domain with only his
computer.
Work done: I have made sure the drivers are same on both ends, terminal
server and computers in Toronto. Made sure wihtin the RDP sesion local
resources like printer is checked.
Please help, it would really be appriciated.
