Would this type of thing be a candidate for VMWare player perhaps?

Don't know what vmware version your using, but in workstation you can
protect the settings from being changed by a student by providing a
password.
That is located in "Edit, preferences, lockout".

Each student has several different images to work with - they need to be
able
to have two or three VMWare sessions going at a time. To be honest, I
don't
know VMWare incredibly well - Maybe we're approaching this problem the
wrong
way.
We have two clases - each class has about 15 students. We're manually
spreading the students across the 3 servers - only allowing 5 students
from
each class to log on to each machine. They need to be able to start up
mulitple VMs to do lab experiments varying from networking to system
setup.
I hope this additional information helps.

You can use a third party product like Aurema Armtech to control memory
but
it is very difficult to do considering the way that TS uses memory.
Why not simply have VMWare running in the background and have the
students
connect directly to the VM's instead?

Hello All,
I'm a Graduate student at my college. We're playing around with the
120
day
trial of terminal services and I'm in charge of making sure everything
runs
smoothly.
Our situation is this: we've got three Windows2k3 Server machines all
with
VMWare for students to RDP into. The idea is that they will
eventually be
able to log in remotely, fire up VMWare, then do their labs from their
dorm
rooms. Unfortuantely I can't seem to find any sort of memory quota
management
to spread out system resouces equally.
For instance, one machine has 4gb of ram. It should be enough for 2
students
to run 4 virtual machines with 512mb each. But if one student adjusts
his
VMs
to have 1gb of ram each, the other student can't do anything.
I'm looking for some sort of group policy to apply to my student OU
that
will set a hard limit of available memory to each student.
Any help is greatly appreciated!
