just how common is our session setting??

I am a new IT admin trying to support/enhance a rocky implementation of
Terminal Services for my company.

In short, we have a lot of [justifiably] upset end-users who
consistently experience disconnects. However, their biggest pain point
seems to be the inability to log back into the system once their
sessions get disconnected.

I have no idea how many end users actually use this system, but here
are some findings I've come up with so far:
1) load balancer: NLB
2) # app servers: ~30
3) peak active session count: ~100
4) peak disc session count: ~100

Considering how unstable our implementation is and how dissatisfied our
end-users are, I was surprised to see that the time to "End a
disconnected session" is currently set to 1 day. (Override user
settings is set to true.)

Apparently, some functional person that was part of the initial TS
implementation wanted to grant our end users the luxury of allowing
their applications run overnight so that they can reconnect and resume
their work up to 24 hours later.

Because way too many end-users are currently complaining of not being
able to reconnect once their sessions get disconnected, I've asked if
we could decrease the our "1 day" setting. I explained that our
implementation does not appear stable enough at this point in time for
such a long setting.

I pretty much got shot down.

So, I'm just curious how common it is for shops to have such a long
setting for the time to "End a disconnected setting."

Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

BTW, we're trying to stabilize our implementation by checking out
alternatives to NLB, as well as identifying/rectifying memory leaks as
best as we can.

FYI, the Active session limit is also set to 1 day.
