Re: Terminal Server locks ZTR*.tmp files after users log off

That sounds promising!
But wouldn't it be nice if Acrobat itself would do the clean-up
job...

Progress! The user selves can delete these files. I've already
created a simple but working batch file that does the job. I'll
keep my findings posted here.

Regards, Hans.

I'm not sure users can delete their z*.tmp files. For some odd
reason i've little of them today (but am sure this will be
different at the end of today) >>> i'll give it a shot. Thanks
for your thoughts.

Hans.

Not a solution, but maybe a work-around:
can't you define a logoff script for the users, which deletes
the files when they log off from the TS?

Here the sequel.

The files still occur after upgrading to the latest version
of UPHClean. Just one difference. Users log off of terminal
server and in the folder "Local Settings\Temp\..." now new
files occur: - Z@R*.tmp
in stead of:
- ZTR*.tmp.

When i go through the old deleted .tmp-files, i get the
strong feeling that the "@"-versions occured after upgrading
to Acrobat Reader 7.0.8.

Any help is appreciated...

Update:

After upgrading Acrobat Reader 7.0.x (i believe .5) to 7.0.8
the ZTR*.tmp files still occured. Now i've upgraded the
UPHClean utility to 1.6.30.0. To be continued...

Vera,

Thanks for your answer. I tried to generate these files
with Adobe, but that didn't do anything unfortunately. Also
tried our PDF-printer (eDocPrinter). Early this morning i
updated Acrbobat Reader to version 7.0.8, so now i will
first wait for new ZTR-files to occur. If not, we now know
who caused it.

I've also looked up the UPHClean utility. We'd already had
that running, but that was version 1.5.5.21 and the current
one is 1.6d. So, if they do occur i'll upgrade this one.

I'll keep this group posted.

Install the UPHClean utility to see if that solves the
problem.

Since the installation of Office 2003 (or perhaps one the
service packs the last 2 months), our w2k TS has problems
with cleaning up copied profiles. After users log off, it
happens (2 out of 10 times) a user profile gets cleaned
up, but leaves:

- \\server\documents and settings\%username%\Local
Settings\Temp\??\ZTR*.tmp

These files don't show up in Computer Management, Open
Files nor can i trace them to a proces with Process
Explorer.

The problem with these files is, the next time a user
log's in the TS will stop copying the profile at some
certain moments, allways not copying the Quick Launch bar
files. These files don't exist on the home folder of the
users.

Even if i take ownership of the files, i can't delete 'm.
The error message claims the file probably to be in use.
Only after a reboot i can delete these files.

Any help is appreciated.

Hans.
