Re: Problem with HP 1005 printer and Terminal Server

Yes I mean the TS port. we tried it and it worked for us, I am not sure
why though.

Have you contacted HP support and asked them if this printer is
compatible with Terminal Services?

It is not listed on their chart, but since it is closely related to the
LaserJet 1000, I would *guess* that it is not compatible:

Even if you can get it to work, I would recommend against using it
under TS (unless you had a universal printer driver software), because it
uses a host-based driver. Host-based drivers use *tons* more CPU and
bandwidth when compared to a "normal" printer that accepts PCL
or PS directly. It is easy to saturate server CPU and/or WAN
bandwidth with host-based drivers in use.

We have some remote workers connecting on a remote Windows 2003
Terminal server. They have two printers, one is HP 2420 LaserJet which
is connected through DOT4 port.

We had a problem with this printer when a client was trying to connect
on a remote server (it didn't get redirected) but this was solved with
a fix from Microsoft
(http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;q302361).

Other printer is HP 1005 Laserjet. Here we have a different problem
(redirection was not the issue here, printer gets mapped fine).

When the user tries to print anything from his session, he gets this
message: "There was an error found when printing the document Test
Page" to TS005. Do you want to retry or cancel the job?"

Printing locally isn't a problem. I tried LTP and USB connection and I
get the same error.

The driver versions are the same on client and server.

Does anybody know how to solve this problem?
