External trusts are one-way and non-transitive.
Your external trust between the two root domains in forest X and Y
doesn't create a trust relationship between the servers in child
domain Z (in forest Y) and the TS Licensing Server in (presumably)
the root domain of forest X.
A *forest* trust would do the above, since it is transitive.
But that requires that both forest X and forest Y are at the
Windows 2003 forest functional level.

Hi Guys,.
I am Facing a Strange Situation in one of our project
environment.
We have about 7 different forests..and all have trust
relationship with each other..
we have external trust between diffrent forest.. now problem
which i am
facing is that we have two forest say X and Y having external
trust.. and our terminal licensing server is placed in the
Forest X (enterprise mode) and i have two server using terminal
services in application mode..in domain Z which is the child
domain forest Y and have trust with X via Y which is the parent
domain....
Now.. two server S1 and S2 in domain Z user terminal services in
application mode..but accidentelly.. terminal server licensing
service was installed on the one the S1 in domain z and it
started issuing temporary licenses to the othe server S2..
but now since ..120 grace period is over.. when user logs into
S2 he gets an error that grace period is over please activate
the sever..after this i tried to changed the discovery mode to
specified speciying my actual term licensing server in forest
X..but still when i log in we get the error about license
expiration.. even though i am able to communicate with the serve
in forest X and i am able to see licensing available in term
server licensing..
i am totally perplexed..by the thing that if license hav expired
y i am not getting error in S1 why i am getting error when user
logs in S2 also when licenses are available..y are they not
getting allocated when user logs.. in..
I hope i have expalined my problem well enough..one more thing
that my licensin server does not get auto discovered.. what can
be the possible reason fro this.. also one more thing is there
any other port except RPC 135 and SSl 443 which are used while
license issuing..
please.. provide your inputs..
u can mail me at nonu16@xxxxxxxxx
or i will keep updating here..
