Re: excel has encountered an problem and needs to close-Office2K3

Thanks for that Vera, I have tried putting the updates on, but it hasn't made
any difference. I don't suppose you have any other ideas?

The problem seems to be an add-in to Excel:

Done some Googling and found this:

it was a problem with the sgxladdin.dll.

I have spoken to the software vendor (www.Sage.com) and they have
confirmed it to be a known bug in their Line 50 v11 software.

If anyone else has this problem and they use Sage's Excel
integration, there is an update (v11.01) available from the
registered users area of their website.

man, I'm surprised this thing runs at all. TS, DC, and
Exchange. Three things that conflict with each other pretty
heavily. Make sure you load UPHCLEAN on the server. It is
downloadable from Microsoft.

I have recently installed a Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard
Edition system.
It is running Service Pack 1 and I have also run Microsoft
Update until there
is nothing left to update.

I have enabled Terminal Services on the server.

I have installed Office 2003 Professional, put on Service Pack
1 and run Microsoft Update until there is nothing left to
update.

However, when closing workbooks or exiting the application, the
following error message comes up:

Microsoft Office Excel has encountered a problem and needs to
close. We are
sorry for the inconvenience.
The information you were working on might be lost. Microsoft
Excel can try to recoved it for you.
[tick box] Recoved my work and restart Microsoft Office Excel.
Then there is the usual send/don't send the information to
Microsoft.

As you can see, this is not very helpful. At the same time it
logs in the event log the following:

Event Type: Error
Event Source: Microsoft Office 11
Event Category: None
Event ID: 1000
Date: 18/07/2006
Time: 10:34:06
User: N/A
Computer: NTSERVER1
Description:
Faulting application excel.exe, version 11.0.8033.0, stamp
449c383b, faulting module sgxladdin.dll, version 1.0.0.11,
stamp 411b5942, debug? 0, fault address 0x0001048f.

I have searched for this symptom and have not yet managed to
find anything which seems to relate to this specific problem.

In case it is relevant, the server is a Proliant ML350, Dual
3GHz Xeon processors and 2G of RAM. It has all of the HP agents
and tools installed

The server is also a Domain Controller (the only one in the
domain) and is running Exchange Server 2003, which is of course
on Service Pack 2 and I have
also run Microsoft Update until there is nothing left to
update.

Non-Microsoft, the server is running Sage Line 50, Symantec
Backup Exec 10d,
(which I need to put Service Pack 1 on), Adobe Reader 7 and
eTrust ITM version 8.

So, can anyone help me? I have already removed and re-installed
Office 2003,
but it is still the same.
