Is AD an issue?

Hi

I need to read up on AD, domains, forests, trees, and the whole
shebang, but before I go ahead, I was curious to know whether it's
easy for a client to connect to a TS server even when the two networks
are totally independent, ie. there is no connection whatsoever between
them as far as servers are concerned, or do I need to have servers
know each other before letting remote users connect to the TS server?

Thank you.
