You need to call the ms clearinghouse to free up the licenses, then readd
them to the new server.

I'm retiring a few of the servers (all win2k server with SP4) on my
network and am looking at moving the Terminal Server License Server
from the previous domain controller to what was just recently promoted
(and all FMSO roles transferred) to be the DC.

The previous layout was as follows:

"SRV1" - DC and held all FMSO roles including the TS license server
"SRV2" - member server and terminal server

The current layout:

"SRV1" - DC, still runs the TS License Server, but no longer holds the
FMSO roles
"SRV2" - member server, and still terminal server
"SRV3" - DC, holds all FMSO roles

Target layout:

"SRV1" - member server and terminal server
"SRV2" - retired and no longer functioning (anyone need a doorstop?)
"SRV3" - DC, FMSO roles master, license server

I guess what I'm looking for is a detailed migration plan for the TS
License Server info. I picked up this network from a previous netadmin
that took off and didn't leave any of the license information so a
backup/restore of the license server would be preferred. Where are the
licenses stored on the LS? I found a folder called,
"c:\winnt\system32\LServer".

From a few MS docs that I found it sounds like all I have to do is
install the TS LS to the new DC, and then backup the LServer folder
from the previous TS LS and restore it to the new DC?
