Q. I have to install a new Terminal Server. Can I clone my existing
TS?
A. Yes, that's perfectly possible. You will need some sort of 3rd
party imaging software, like Symantec Ghost, as well as a utility
to change the servers SID (or use sysprep).
Here is the procedure, using Ghost:
1. load the image on the new server
2. reboot with network cable unplugged
3. log in as local administrator
4. change the IP address
5. change the servername
6. change from domain to workgroup
7. empty all eventlogs
8. Stop the IMA service and change the startup method to
"Manual" - Citrix only
9. delete C:\wfcname.ini - Citrix only
10. delete the 2 database files from C:\Program Files\Citrix\Citrix
Resource Manager\LocalDB - Citrix only
11. reboot from Symantec GhostWalker disk with the network
cable unplugged
12. change the SID
13. reboot with network cable plugged in
14. log in as local administrator
15. enable the IMA service (change startup method to Automatic) -
Citrix only
16. join the domain
17. reboot
Additional steps that you might have to take:
* add the new server to all published applications - Citrix only
* configure load-balancing
