Pass-through authentication from desktop to remote server

Hello,
I'm trying to set up some client workstations currently running XP to
act as if they were thin clients connecting to SBS2003 server.
I would like to have the client PC's boot up, and when the user is
prompted for username/password, they are immediately logged on to
their personal desktop on the remote server, rather than the local
desktop, without any additional user intervention.
Users will share client PC's so it's not as simple as saving a
username/password in an RDP configuration file and putting that in a
batch file.
There are at least a couple of ways (I think) this could be
accomplished, but I run into the same problem either way.
1. Create a logon script to run mstsc with /v: command switches, but
I'm not sure how to pass the username/password from the desktop to the
server.
2. Create a group policy to change the users' shell to from explorer
to mstsc, but again, this would happen on the user level GP rather
than the machine level GP so I still run into the problem of
seamlessly passing authentication from the desktop to the server.
Is there a solution that I'm missing?
Any help is appreciated.
