OK, so that's the version which came with 2003 server

That's by design. Redirection your printer is no security risk,
redirecting your local drives is. So you get only warned about
drives.

I've no idea. Anything in the EventLog on the server when you
connect? Is redirection even attempted? Which model printer? Does
it use a non-standard local port, like DOT4?
