First of all, you can connect to the console of the server from any
workstation or server which has the rdp client installed (version
5.1 or higher).
You can use the mstsc command from whatever directory you are, as
long as the mstsc executable can be found (and since it usually
resides in the system folder hierarchy, it should be in the normal
path).
Type mstsc /? at the command prompt to see all command line
options.
If you connect from a workstation within the same domain as the
server, you don't have to type the FQDN, only the servername would
be enough.
Just experiment a bit with the different command line parameters,
the worsed that can happen is that the rdp client says that it
can't find the server.
