Window 2003 Terminal Services or Just Windows 2003 Server

Tech Tip: Click here to run a free scan for Windows Errors and optimize PC performance

Hi,

We will be upgrading our network in the Summer (2005) from Windows 2000
server to Windows 2003 server. I have been doing some research for a report
to be generated for the justification of the upgrade and have come across the
Terminal Services option for Windows 2003 server.

Would anyone be able to recommend whether they think that Terminal services
is useful for a network which comprises of about 50 users who use office
products as well as other Bespoke software? Updates take place on the SQL
server constantly and the network is running 24/7. Is Terminal Services able
to cope with this or would it just be easier to upgrade to just Windows 2003
server?

Microsoft recommends Terminal Services for application deployment where
applications are frequently updated, infrequently used and hard to manage. As
performance is an important consideration could anyone let me know whether
they think that TS would be appropriate here or not, based on the limited
information that I have given?

Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks.
