Nico,

It sounds like your OS (on your client) is corrupt in some way, and this
could be affecting your ability to connect -- and probably a lot of other
things as well. it may also be a hardware problem, or a combination of the
two.

First, backup any data you have on the computer. Then, I would scan for
viruses with a reputable antivirus program, just to be sure that they arent'
causing you any issues. (Your symptoms don't sound virus-related, but it's
easier to check for them than to reformat.) You may also want to use
Spybot - Search & Destroy and AdAware to scan for adware/spyware that could
be gumming up the works.

At this point, if you are still having problems, it would be a good diea to
get your hardware checked out. Your system board or hard drive controller
could be on the fritz.

And if that doesn't sove things, it's time to reformat your hard drive (you
already backed up your data, right?) and do a clean installation of your OS.
Immeditately patch it and get antivirus software installed, then install the
latest RDP client and try connecting. That way if it still doens't work, you
know it wasn't due to applications you loaded after installing your OS.
