In addition to James' comments:
You probably wouldn't need Citrix if you have a small environment, 10 or so
users.
Above that, Citrix offers:
1. Published applications: as many as you want, and they act natively
2. Load balancing: comprehensive, quick, easy and you can lb on many
factors, not just network traffic
3. Web interface: Citrix Secure Gateway, aka NFuse, is free when you
purchase the Metaframe/presentation server software. All you need is access
to a web browser and you can get to your office apps.
