special characters (altGr + other key) don't make it to the remote machine

Hi

I'm sorry to bring this up again, I found 4 similar posts in this and the
windowsxp.work_remotely group, none of which contains an answer, but all of
them outline that this is a common problem and I hope somebody from MS
working on Terminal Services will take the time to investigate.

Basically, every character that requires that the right Alt button (Alt Gr)
is pressed alongside another button (for instance, on Swiss keyboards the @
sign is Alt Gr plus the key 2), cannot be typed on a machine that is being
accessed via terminal services. The machine can be either Windows XP,
Windows 2000 Server and Windows 2003 Server, the behaviour is the same. Some
time, if you keep hitting the same keyboard combination, eventually it will
work, but it definitely doesn't work as it should. Now I realize in the US
you have stuff like the @ or (back)slashes accessible via shift + key, which
works just fine, but at least in Europe we use the Alt Gr key a lot and it
would be great if this problem could be fixed once and for all so that
important characters like []{}~|@#?\ can be typed via Terminal Services
regardless of your keyboard settings. Typing those characters on the local
machine, then copying and pasting them to the remote machines is really
extermely annoying.

Regards
Stephan
