Hi,
We are currently investigating running Windows Terminal Server 2003
(Enterprise Edition) with SAP R/3 V4.6c & SAPgui 620 in application server
mode. This will be a farm with multiple timezones, input locales (languages)
and assorted local printers. We will be running Session Directory and TS
licensing outside of the farm as well as utilizing Microsoft's Network Load
balancing solution. We would prefer to use this instead of a 3rd Party
management product (Citrix).
Here are some questions I am curious to awnser; again we are very early in
the exploratory mode so forgive me if I am uninformed on both Windows
Terminal Services 2003 and SAP.
1. Has anyone here completed or are in process of implementations with any
versions of the SAPgui on WTS 2003? If so how did you have issues with local
printer resolution, or was that handled through the back end by SAPgui ( I
do not have access to SAP note 150533)? If handled by WTS 2003 did your
network pipe see a substantial usage increase due to local printing?
2. Does anyone know of any white papers provided by SAP or MS on a
SAP/Terminal Server 2003 implementation?(no Citrix)
3. Does anyone know how much RAM is required per session after the first
session is established for SAP gui? (5MB, 10 MB, 25 MB?) This would help me
calculate my server sizing.
4. Has anyone come across any caveats with Windows 2003 TS and SAPgui
installations?
Thanks in advance for any responses I am just trying to see if anyone else
has been through this process and if so possibly bounce some more questions
off of them.
Brandon
