Hi Meinolf,

There is no charmap.exe on my Windows Server 2008 available. This file
doesn't exist on my hard drive. I can't install it from the Features
System MMC tool either... So I have to take it from somewhere, don't
I?

Hello Axel,

Why are you talking about the Vista files? It is included in 2008.
And if you do not use the tools they are more or less files on the
server. Windows defender you can disable.

These are the additional tools:
Windows Calendar
Windows Mail
Windows Media Player
Windows Aero and other desktop themes
Video for Windows (AVI support)
Windows Photo Gallery
Windows SideShow
Windows Defender
Disk Cleanup
Sync Center
Sound Recorder
Character Map

Ah, I see... Great, Mainolf, thanks for enlightening me!

Hmmm... I think I'll try to copy a Vista version of that applet into
my Windows Server 2008 copy then.

TIA,

Hi Meinolf,

thanks for your reply.

No, I actually didn't... I'm running Windows Server 2008 on a
virtual machine and didn't want to bog down my machine with Vista
features. Do you see a coincidence here?

TIA,

Hi Meinolf,

I just did... Nothing found.

Is there a way to install it using Roles of Features? Do you
have access to that tool in your Windows 2008 Server
installation?

Your help is appreciated!
