Re: How to install a RIS Network Driver in Windows 2008 Standard ?

I usually use VMware server but I will try the MS Virtual solution. I made
this test on real conditions because I had a new machine, that's all. There
is sometimes a big difference between the virtual test and the reality
because of the material. I do not have very much experience and it is
difficult for me to advice a client when I am not sure that the solution will
work on real hardware. I will wait for the new drivers. Thanks

Hello Chenn,

If you just like to test, install virtual server/pc on a powerful machine
and install it as Virtual machine. Uses standard MS drivers even if the hardware
is different.

Ok I am going to ask for help to Nvidia but I did not want to run
Win2008 for
production but only for a test and the test unsucceeded because I can
not
find all necessary drivers. I am disappointed. Win2008 seems to be
better to
virtualize solutions rather than Win2003.
Thank you for your attention anyway.

Hello Chenn,

Again, contact nvidia, it's theire problem or choose another NIC.
Additional you should not run a Release candidate version for
production environments.

There is no driver for Win2008 yet but I tried those one for Win2003
64bits and it is the same for WinXP 64bits. So the name is not
important in this case because the files are same. I am trying to
find the right driver and I know that it exists because I saw this
configuration running under Win2008 beta. It was an english version
but I think that it can works on the RC1 french version. I hope I am
not wrong...

Hello Chenn,

winxp64? You must find a 2008 driver not XP. Contact Nvidia for
the correct driver.

Yes right. I just tried to install a Nvidia's driver (8.43 nforc
650i winxp64 international) but it still does not work.

Hello Chenn,

So 2008 server is installed and didn't recognize the NIC? Is this
right?

Hello Meinolf,

Thank you for trying to help me. Currently, the driver files are
on an USB key and I do not install a RIS server because I did
not found the service on the control panel. In the Zip file, I
have 1 inf's file but it does not work when I try to install it
by "Add material".

Hello Chenn,

Just to understand you right. You will install windows 2008
from a RIS server? Not from the installation media itself?

Hello, I have a motherboard ASUS P5N-E SLI and I am trying to
install Win2008 Std. My problem is : the network connection is
not recognize because the driver is not correct. I downloaded
those one for Win2003 64bits in order to try if it can solve
my problem but I don't know how to install the RIS.zip which I
get because I found explanations for Win2000 and I do not
understand what to do. Thank you for helping me.
