A bit more info:
The current DC (that is being replaced) is running DNS in AD Integrated mode
and the new DC that is replacing it will (once succefully installed) become
the primary DC in the domain (so will re-take all of the FSMO roles once in
place). Thanks,

We are in a single Windows Server 2003 domain (native) with XP clients and.
four DCs. Our primary DC (first installed in the forest) is at the end of its
life cycle and we've purchased a new server to replace it. Due to client and
application considerations, we want to give the new DC the same name and IP
address as the current one. The current DC is a GC and holds the following
FSMO roles:
PDC Emulator
RID Master
Schema Master
Domain Naming Master
It also performs DNS, DHCP and WINS. I am aware that we will need to
gracefully move the FSMO roles off to another DC prior to the move and will
need to run DCPROMO to demote the current DC (as well promoting the new
server) but would like a link or two to some comprehensive documents that
outline the procedure (as we're aware that keeping the same name and IP
address of the old server can be "problematic"). Can anyone provide? Many
thanks,
Adam
