Re: Problem with print services for Unix

Hi Morgan,
Thanks for the reply, you described my problem exactly! I checked the link
on the Microsoft Update site. The first part wasn't relevant as it was a
problem with windows 2000. I did try the System File Checker utility and it
ran all the way through without finding any problems. I tried add/remove
programs again but that failed too. I also looked at the discussion on the
MSDN forum and that didn't look relevant either as it related to people
writing their own programs. Is there anything else I can try? Is it not
possible to force windows to ask for the installation disk again?
Thanks,
Austin

Dear Austin,
Thanks for posting here.
After viewing your post, I understand that you previously added components
on 64bit Windows Sever 2003 through 32bit CD by mistake, and then the
error
message "0x800700c1" always pop-ups every time you attempt to add
component. If I misunderstood your meaning, please advise.
Generally, I suspect some DLL files that be corrupted by 32bit I386 files.
Some DLL of 32bit may be not compatible with 64bit Windows system. If
these
DLL files have been replaced by 32bit corresponding files, the error may
come out as we encounter. Please refer to the following article to repair
these DLL.
When accessing the Update site, you may receive the 0x800700C1 error
http://update.microsoft.com/microsoftupdate/v6/showarticle.aspx?articleid=43
&ln=en&IsMu=True
And the below post will explain you more about compatibility of 64bit DLL
files.
http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=2121199&SiteID=1
Alternatively, If we have a good backup, we can restore system and then
reinstall this component with correct source.
I hope this helps. If you need further assistance, please be free to let
me
know.
Have a good day!
Sincerely
Morgan Che
