Re: Windows 2003 server stuck in loading mode after upgrading from

I had to temporarily shelve this issue because of other more pressing issues.
I decided to try booting into safe mode again before I tried your suggestion.
I noticed that while booting in safe mode the server kinda hung on \App
Patch\drvmain.sdb.
I wonder if this is my issue. What is it used for? How can I fixed it?

Hi,

No sorry just the following immediately after your default boot entry...

Thanks
Matthew

Thanks. I will try that. But just to make sure, I need add these 4 lines
to
the boot.ini file?

/sos /basevideo /bootlog

/sos - show what drivers are loading
/basevideo - force 640x480 - 16col
/bootlog - log boot info

And do I need leave a blank line between the 1st 2 lines?
Thanks again.

You may want to boot into the recovery console, then add the following to

/sos /basevideo /bootlog

/sos - show what drivers are loading
/basevideo - force 640x480 - 16col
/bootlog - log boot info

You will see what drivers load, maybe the last one is causing a problem.
You can then reboot into the recovery console and check the
systemroot\Ntbtlog.txt file for further info.

Hope this helps.

I need help people. I am in the process of upgrading a DELL PowerEdge
6850
from Windows 2000 to Windows 2003. I am doing an in-place upgrade. All
te
drivers and stuff has been loaded, but for some reason the server is
stuck
in
a loading state. All I see is the Windows 2003 initial Logo and the
scrol
bar
at the bottom, Windows never completely loads. I have tried booting
into
safe
mode & last known good configuration, but I still get the same results.
Has anyone seen this before? Any ideas on how to fix this without doing
a
re-instal? Any pointers will be appreciated.
