What 'problems' are you having? Generally, re-install would be the
better method. Some "tools" are necessary.

Ok, first a bit of history... The operating system was moved to
different hardware and due to the fact that the network cards had
changed, windows needed to reconfigure the firewall, RAS etc. I
didn't manage to get the system working as i had intended, so i
decided that the best bet would be to run the internet and email
setup wizard. The wizard completed, but failed at the firewall stage.

I then decided to reinstall sharepoint, sbs monitoring (since that
wasn't working since the upgrade), and all the other standard stuff.
This is where i came unstuck. The reinstall failed. So i tried
uninstalling. Everything except "Intranet" and "Administration"
uninstalled successfully - i didn't uninstall exchange because there
is 2TB of data there...

I managed to get rid of "intranet" by uninstalling "IIS" in the
add/remove programs / windows components and then deleting the sites
using the registry/explorer as documented elsewhere.

This then showed "intranet" as not being installed. BUT... if i
change the action for Server tools to "Maintenance" and try and
install Intranet, Monitoring, Networking or client Deployment, the
setup program responds with "Monitoring depends on Server Tools,
which has an install problem".

Is there any way to manually uninstall "Server tools" so that i may
install it again?

If i try and uninstall "Server Tools", the setup program fails and
gives me a number of errors and log files i can read - doesn't mean
much to me though!

I have tried uninstalling all the windows updates and non-essential
software on the server, but to no avail.

I have also tried installing all the windows updates (again) but that
doesn't help either!

I am at my wit's end! Short of formatting and starting again, i am
lost...

I'm cross posting this to the SBS2003 newsgroup.

Thanks! I noticed the other group once i had finished my message

You are in a world of hurt friend. Exchange, which it appears you are trying
to salvage, requires IIS and trying to re-install it now probably isn't
going to be successfull. I'd probably look at forklifting the exchange
database to a new and clean install because at this point I don't think you
can really use exmerge or any other option. ( You did mean 2 GIGABytes,
right?).
