Sounds like you likely already tried it, but disabling any Antivirus in
place?
Yes, really.
Those are the first services i stop when doing installations. CD's will be
checked before.
We have a second member-server with W2K server SP4 on it.
I thought about dcpromo-ing him to a DC and then do the update on him.
But that is not what we need.
The main server is a WTS with 4 CPU's and he must be upgraded.
When switching the DC-functionality completely to the smaller W2K server,
can i although Update the WTS from W2K Advanced Server to W2K3 Enterprise ?
So, the WTS would remain as a meber server in the domain.
Does this work? What do you think?
Thank you for your interest in helping and see you ....

Hello World,
i have a severe Problem with our Windows 2000 Advanced Server (SP4),
running
on a DELL PE6600 with 4 CPU's and 8GB of RAM:
When starting the W2K3 Enterprise Setup (all adprep action on the
schemamaster already done) and choosing the recommended option of
"Update",
the Product key has to be typed in and then Setup is hanging at "Preparing
Installation, Installation will be ready in about 54min".
BUT NOTHING MORE HAPPENS.
Hours later, when i press the ESC-key, Setup immediately says that this
will
terminate the Setup, so it is still running in the background.
And when i use TuneUpUtilities to examine the running processes, there is
a
process "stubloader for WINNT32 Setup" that consumes all processtime that
he
can get. One of the eight CPU's is loaded with 100% of this process.
The overall performance of the windows taskmanager shows up WINNT32.exe
with
13%
What the hell is this process waiting for???
CAN ANYONE HELP?
I stopped more and more processes, but no success.
I disabled USB-ports in BIOS, but no success.
Does anyone have an idea, what else i could do that the setup will finally
start?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
TIA,
Richard
