We have 16 desktops in our computer lab. Every 4 units are connected to a
switch .
What does that mean. 3 out of 4 are not connected? Please explain.
Today we had a situation where 2 computers on the same switch
authenticated but when we try to access network resources , we get a
message that the domain controller is inaccessible. We did a restart on
the computers and thy work fine.
This is a classic case of intermittent resolution. Usually caused by the
client's tcp/ip properties being assigned a DNS server from more than ONLY
the internal network DNS. Do not put external network DNS entries into the
client's tcp/ip config. If they are there, remove them.
What causes a desktop to not be seen by the domain controller?
I think you mean the other way around. Since you said that the client's
could not see resources. Implement the previous step regarding DNS servers.
Could the lease and renew comfit in DECO cause this behavior?
What is a DECO?
