Would you know a link which documents this? I don't think anyone will
question me but if I can produce a document, arguments /
disagreements can be avoided.

Sorry, not offhand. It's the sort of thing that's generally considered so
obvious I've never needed any backup documentation. You can check out the MS
licensing pages for some information, maybe.

I am helping a church reconfigure some donated computers. Four of
the computers have Win2K Server or Win2K Advanced Server and were
in an Active Directory domain. The donating company has been
contacted but they don't remember the domain admin password. I
used the screen saver trick to get into the local machine admin
account, so that's not a problem now.
I don't think they'll need Active Directory at all. I just want to
set the computers up as file / print servers. The clients can then
save the files on the servers and I could then backup the data
easier. How can I configure these computers like that?

I have no CDs or auth. codes. These were donated to a church. If
any of this is illegal, please let me know. I'll put Linux on the
systems. If I can set them up easier, I'd rather do things the easy
way.
Thanks,
Keith

If they didn't give you the licenses, you can't legally use the
software. Contact the company to see whether they can get the media
& keys & licenses to you - they may not want them any more.
Otherwise, you'll need to flatten these boxes & install something
else - Linux might be the best way to go if budgets are tight & you
don't need AD.
