Re: In-Place Upgrade from W2K3 Std to W2K3 Ent

Hi Patrick and thanks for your replay,

I'm sorry but I found this article in the Microsoft knowledge base:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/810613/en-us;

again, I found this in the readme.htm of the W2003 Enterprise installation cd:

-----------------------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------
1.1 Operating Systems from Which You Can Upgrade
--------------------------------------------------
If you upgrade, Setup automatically installs Windows
Server 2003, Enterprise Edition, into the same folder as the currently
installed operating system. You can upgrade to Windows
Server 2003, Enterprise Edition, from the following versions of
Windows:

* Windows NT Server 4.0 with Service Pack 5 or later

* Windows NT Server 4.0, Terminal Server Edition, with Service
Pack 5 or later

* Windows NT Server 4.0, Enterprise Edition, with Service Pack 5 or
later

* Windows 2000 Server

* Windows 2000 Advanced Server

* Windows Server 2003, Standard Edition

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
---------------------------------------------------------------------

What do you think about this ?

Thanks again.

Everything that I've been told is that you can't do it. It's a a complete
rebuild upgrade.

Hi everybody,

I added 4GB ram to my W2K3 STd server so now it has a total of 8GB ram.

I know I need W2K3 ent. edition in order to see all the new ram.

My server is SAN attached (to an IBM DS4300 with Fiber Channel) and is an
SQL2000 Enterprise Edition application server too.

Does anyone know about problem doing an in-place upgrade from W2k3STD to
W2K3 ENT in this situation ?

Any advice will be apprecieted.
Thanks in advance
