Re: Enhanced Security Configuration

Can you visit windowsupdate.microsoft.com ??

My first simple impression is that your server's DNS isn't configured for
internet access.

I have installed 2003 Server with SP1 on a new server. I need to update
the
server before installing Active Directory, DNS, and such. However, I am
unable to "connect" to the Windows Update site. I have experience with
2000
server and I am confused as to why this has become so difficult in the
2003
server OS.

When I click on "Windows Update", I get the "This page cannot be
displayed."
window in IE followed by a pop-up that states "Microsoft Internet Explorer's
Enhanced Security Configuration is currently enabled on your server. This
enhanced level of security reduces the risk of attack from Web-based
content
that is not secure, but it may also prevent Web sites from displaying
correctly and restrict access to network resources."

In the "Help" section, it says that I need to add these sites to the
"Trusted Sites" list, but the Microsoft Update sites are already listed. I
can ping other computers on my network so I believe the Network Settings
are
correct. I just can't get out.

I am obviously missing something. What do I need to disable or change to
get
this server updated???

. any help, suggestions, and/or links are immensely appreciated!!!!

Thanks in advance!!!
