Doesn't sound like that's the problem.... We assign fixed IP addresses to lots of workstations and servers and have no problems accessing the Internet.

External fixed IP's are needed only if the server/network must be accessed from an external source

The literature says that a server should have a "fixed" IP address....

However, when I set the Lan connection property to use a fixed IP address, the internet connection does not work. If I change it back to Obtain address automatically, it works fine.... what to do ?
