Sounds like a job for Microsoft's Password Synchronization
(http://technet2.microsoft.com/WindowsServer/en/Library/2e0186ba-1a09-42b5-81c8-3ecca4ddde5e1033.mspx?mfr=true).
Password Synchronization was available with Windows Services for UNIX 3.5
(http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=896c9688-601b-44f1-81a4-02878ff11778&DisplayLang=en);
it's also included with Windows Server 2003 R2
(http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2003/default.mspx), and Windows
Server Code Name "Longhorn" Beta 2, which is now available for download:
https://connect.microsoft.com/site/sitehome.aspx?SiteID=4.
Password Synchronization and its related identity management component,
Server for NIS, are part of Microsoft's Identity Management for UNIX. In
Windows Server Code Name "Longhorn" Beta 2, Identity Management for UNIX can
be installed as part of the Active Directory Domain Services role.
Why build your own PAMs if you don't have to? ;)

Take a look at services for unix. It can provide login support and user
handeling for Unix clients against your AD. It's also a free download

I have 5 servers; 3 RedHat and 2 Windows 2003 Server. I would like toa
use
single password for all of these. When thinking about this, I had 22)
thoughts that came to mind. 1) Setup the 2 Windows servers as domain
controllers and find a mechanism to connect the linux machines to that.
Setup 2 of the linux machines with Samba to act as domain controllers.these
Unfortunately, I don't know which is the best option, or if either of
is the best.access
What is the best way for me to do this? In the end, I would like to
have
the system administrators be able to login to any of the servers with a
single login. As well, I would like to use the password for specific
for employees, such as pop3/imap/smtp and a few other integrated
services.
Any suggestions or information would be appreciated.
Thank You,
Jason Williard
