Re: Getting started with ADS

Basically, yes. Here's the problem and how it played out in the end.

Since the documentation doesn't really tell me what I should see and
the process isn't a familiar one, I could see that I was getting a PXE
boot but I couldn't tell what I should expect to see next. I could
tell that PXE was in contact with the ADS server but at the point when
DA should have been passing back a ramdisk in which to boot, the
target system simply rebooted. A simple screenshot showing the
successful DA boot would have tipped me off that I wasn't getting to
the proper point. ;)

In the end, I built a similar system in Virtual Server and finally got
a look at what should have been happening on the DL380 (and wasn't).

So I went over to HP's support site and discovered I wasn't alone on
this problem. The cure was to install a later ROMPaq on the DL380
(it's not like it was very far out of date, either). The thread is
still alive and germaine to ADS even today. Take a look at:

Thanks again, Alexander.

Hello Greg,

so, Did I correct understand, that you can't load the DA at the target
device?
If yes, check that you add a device to the ADS controller with the correct
MAC? Did you add the correct driver for the NIC to the DA?
.
