Re: Can't install components on 2003 SP1 R2 upgrade

I've now tried to install on the other server within the cluster (switching
it to become the passive server and pausing the node) with the same results.

I watched the last 10 minutes of the install which appeared to go smoothly
with no errors.

Thanks,

Steve.

Hi Jabez,

I have already tried a second re-install with the same results. I've looked
in c:\windows and there isn't a windows_r2setup.log, so I searched the whole
of the C: drive for .log files relating to R2 and there weren't any at all.

There is a registry entry called r2setup in:
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\" however so
something seems to have happened.

The install appears to have gone smoothly, with no errors or messages. Just
to re-iterate, incase it makes a difference, I am installing R2 on the
passive server within a 2 server active/passive cluster.

Hi Steve,

Let me suggest that you try popping in the R2 CD and re-run the setup.exe
file. See if you are able to get it to re-install.

Also, please ZIP and upload the log file windows_r2setup.log which is
located in C:\Windows

Hi Jabez,

Yes I rebooted but the key isn't present in the registry?

The install went okay as far as I can tell though.

Hi Steve,

Please try rebooting after installing R2 Setup.

Also please check the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\R2Setup

Check if you have the key "R2BuildNumber"

Thanks!

Hi all,

I have a Server 2003 Enterprise SP1 Active/Passive cluster and I've
just
installed R2 onto the passive as a test.

I've successfully installed R2 but when I go into Add Windows
Components
then Management and Monitoring the R2 tools aren't there. I am also
unable
to
find anything new in Other Network File and Print Services.

Is the cluster causing a problem or is there something else I'm
missing?

Thanks in advance,

Steve.
