I've been attempting to install SP1 for 2003 on a new server (3.0 Ghz
dual Xeon / 3 HDD SATA RAID 5 Array/ 4gig RAM) - SP1 installs
successfully every time, but on first restart after installation, it
attempts to boot and gets caught in an endless cycle rebooting. When I
boot in safe mode, the system boots properly until it attempts to load
acpitabl.dat, at which point the system hangs, and then reboots.
As for troubleshooting, I've ensured that HT is disabled on the
processors, as well as ensure that I have the most recent bios firmware
installed. The SATA RAID card is potentially the problem; When I build
the server with just one HDD straight to the onboard SATA, not in a
RAID, the system installs SP1 and then reboots to production without
difficulty. I am having the RAID card replaced today, but I am not
certain that this will correct my problem. Any ideas?
Thanks!
Try:
The "updated" update.sys file seems to be the issue in this case...
Start the Recovery Console.
Copy RTM update.sys file from Win2k3 CD to c:\windows\system32\drivers
and c:\windows\system32\dllcache.
Re-boot your server.
