Did you try to boot from the 2003 CD? Do you have the upgrade 2003 or the
full version?

I have been scouring the newsgroups for hours now and am stuck.
Since XP Pro cannot be upgraded to Server2003 I resigned myself to wiping
out XP-Pro and format my HD. But since my PC does not have a floppy I cannot
use that media to boot from.
In my search I found what I thought was the solution: Windows XP Clean
Install
by Paul Thurrott,
http://www.winsupersite.com/showcase/windowsxp_sg_clean.asp
That site indicated I could format my HD by using the XP-Pro setup, however,
when I get to the partitions screen - I cannot delete the partition (says
setup files are there and cannot delete), and I never see the Format Drive
screen.
Sure would have been nice if the Server2003 CD had a simple option to format
a HD - especially since it can tell me I cannot upgrade from XP-Pro and does
not offer any solution.
Can anyone point me in the right direction how I can get Server2003 to
install.
Thanks!!
Rich
