Thanks, but I know the command options.

No, this is about DISKPART, and not related to converting and extending
during a Win2k3 unattended install.
Here's an extract form the deployment guide. It pretty much says the same as
what I posted, and fails to answer the questions. Note it says you must use
ConvertNTFS if you want the security template, but then in the reference
text for ConvertNTFS is claims this is only for backward compatibility and
it's far from clear how you can get cvtarea to work with ConvertNTFS...
Converting FAT/FAT32 Partitions to NTFS
Note
a.. During setup on an NTFS partition, an Access Control List (ACL) is
created for the file system using a predefined set of default security
templates. Additionally, you can use the [.security] section in the
installation (.inf) file(s) of components that use the Setup API to specify
their unique file security. Both the permissions from the default security
templates and the permissions that are set by the .inf files are captured
into one setup security.inf template.
If you initially install Windows to a FAT or FAT32 partition, and then
later use the Convert.exe utility to convert the partition to NTFS, these
default security settings are not applied. Windows does not support the
setting of security on already installed files to match NTFS security after
a conversion from FAT(32). To ensure that you generate the correct ACL, run
setup directly from the CD-ROM or perform an unattended installation with
the corresponding NTFS switch. For more information, see KB article: 237399
The Default NTFS Permissions Are Not Applied to a Converted Boot
(http://kb/article.asp?id=Q237399).
Method 1: Converting to NTFS During Unattended Setup
In the [Unattended] section of the Unattend.txt file, set the FileSystem
entry equal to ConvertNTFS. This value causes Setup to convert the hard disk
automatically, immediately before GUI-mode Setup starts.
[Unattended]
FileSystem = ConvertNTFS Note
a.. FileSystem is not a valid entry in Sysprep.inf.
Method 2: Converting to NTFS after Setup
After you install Windows, start the computer. At a command prompt, type:
Convert Drive /FS:NTFSRestart the computer to complete the conversion to
NTFS. For more information, see:
a.. NTFS Preinstallation and Windows XP (http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/)
