Licensing and Activation question

My company bought a couple of Open Windows 2003 Server licenses (along with the needed CALs) thru our software vendor. We received 1 Volume License Product key for each the 32 bit and 64 bit editions. Of the two servers I set up I have yet to see any pop-ups asking me to "activate" my software product.

I am guessing perhaps the license/media/key I received does not require software activation? (Here i am refering to the activation one would do on say a home edition of Windows XP or another MS retail product.)

Does anyone if this is the case? Do i have to worry about activation? My servers have been up for almost 30 days, I'd hate for them to shut down on mer due to lack of activation.

Needless to say I would be happy if I did not need to worry about this.
