To your second point about discoverability, you may not be aware of the $profile variable.  It makes the process of creating a new (or
customizing an old) profile extremely easy: notepad $profile.

This is not discoverable, nor is the seemingly complex name of $profile one that rolls off the tongue.

I'd like more control over setup.
