Re: 48-Port Network Switch Recommendation?

Hi Ryan,

Interesting concept. I never have given much thought to network
redundancy, especially in a small business frame of mind (or budget).

Thank you for that explanation.

Your are welcome.

Network is the most unterestimated part in a (SMB) IT-infrastructure. If it works, you are fine - if it doesn't, you are screwed.

In this thread, having nearly 100-Ports not working could be very expensive (working costs, loss of customers, regress costs etc.). So having a "Plan B" in your managed network infrastructure (as you should have with your servers) is as much important as everything else in your business too.

So, as a business owner, investing in the right kind of technology can save you money and frustration.. especially as a key differentiator to your competitors in times like this.

Not to mention integration features like VoIP (Cisco CallManager Express with e.g. Connector for Microsoft Dynamics CRM), Managed Services (Cisco Monitor Manager/Director) and so on.

Note: Keep in mind - Ciscos List Price isn't the Price you will have to pay in project bundles. Ask your Cisco partner of choice for a quote.

Can you tell us what Cisco has done with their ESW line of switches to
make them as 'cost effective' as they seem to be? Considering the 2960
counterpart for a 24 port switch is roughly 3 times as much ($500 vs
$1500).

Obviously something was dumbed down. Are these just Cisco badged
Linksys?
