Re-reading, something that is not clear is whether he's actually logging in to the domain over VPN. If he's always using the laptop disconnected from the domain, then the cached domain credentials will expire at some point. I've never actually seen it happen, so I'm not sure if it's a timeout or a fixed number of logins, but someone else here will know.

Hi Joe,

He's logging on as the domain user using cached credentials, but there is no VPN to the SBS server. It's a while since he's "hooked up" with the office, so I guess it's plausible that the credentials have expired.

I think that I will remove his laptop from the domain and get him to log on as a local user and then setup Outlook Anywhere. He misses out on WSUS updates for one thing being domain joined.

Thanks for your input.
