Re: change incoming mail pop3 to smtp

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

Hi thanks for your help so far, i have run the CEICW again, and emails are
going out so that seems ok.
I have looked at the firewall settings on the router,( which is a BT 2700HGV
made by 2wire.) There is a list of applications which includes TELNET SERVER
and SMTP SERVER. I was not sure which one to chose so i opted for both
the telnet is on port 23
smtp is on port 25

This has not made any difference, should i be configuring the SBS firewall ?
any help welcomed

SBS 2003 r2 I need some assistance please.
I got our mail host to switch us to SMTP yesterday and since then we
are not recieving any mail. we have static ip and but I cannot ping
the small business server that runs our exchange, so i think that is
a problem, I turned the firewall off temporarily and still cant ping
it.
We are already sending mail through exchange SMTP so i assume that
the port must be open.
the way i setup was to go into small business server SMTP connector
properties, , then added address space, clicked smtp and entered our
domain name.

That isn't how you do this. It has to be in your recipient policy. If you
already ran the CEICW and had the POP3 connector set up to handle mail for
your domain, it's probably already in there - but as Simon said, run the
CEICW again.

Any help apreciated

Make sure port 25 is open/forwarded in your firewall to your SBS server's
LAN IP.

By default, any good router/firewall appliance will block inbound ICMP
(ping). Never ever ever turn off your firewall, even for a nanosecond. That
isn't a good test anyway. Telnet on port 25.

If you want more help please post your domain name.
